In a shocking development, West Indian great, Dwayne Bravo parted ways with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as their mentor for the upcoming IPL season.

Bravo was associated with CSK for several years, winning 4 IPL titles in different roles. However, he stunned the cricketing fraternity by agreeing to join KKR and will be in-charge of all KKR franchises in different leagues.

So, with Bravo departing CSK need a new bowling coach for the upcoming season. We look at 3 candidates who are ideal fit for the post ahead of the IPL 2025 season.

Bharat Arun

The prime contender for the CSK role is Bharat Arun, who is currently serving as the bowling coach of the KKR side. Arun has also worked with the Indian team in two different stints as bowling coach and will be the ideal fit for the post.

Plus, with Bravo joining in as mentor, he is likely to take up the coaching role as well, and that could tempt the former India coach to move away from the franchise and potentially join MS Dhoni's CSK side ahead of IPL 2025.

He joined KKR in 2022, and was one of the reasons as to why the team won the IPL title in 2024. He nurtured the likes of Harshit Rana and turned Andre Russell's bowling fortunes, and hence, CSK can expect results, if he joins the side.

Eric Simmons

The current assistant coach of the Super Kings franchise, Eric Simmons can also be a good choice, if CSK fails to land Bharat Arun.

He is associated as the assistant coach with CSK for last 7 years, and also works with their other team - Joburg Super Kings in SA20. Simmons has worked closely with MS Dhoni and CSK before and knows the team inside out. Hence, he can be the perfect fit as well for the position. He has also worked with the Indian team from 2010-12, and the franchise will benefit from his game knowledge.

Albie Morkel

Another cricketer who has been closely associated with the Super Kings family - Albie Morkel, played for CSK till 2013, and knows how the CSK franchise works. He shares a great bond with franchise legend, MS Dhoni and this could tempt him to join the Super Kings side ahead of the IPL 2025.

Plus, he was a terrific bowler in. his playing days, and just like his elder brother, Morne Morkel, Albie, can too become a great bowling coach. The CSK bowlers, particularly new-ball bowlers will learn the art of swing from Albie, if he decides to join the franchise.
