Chattogram Royals enjoyed a perfect start to their BPL 2025–26 campaign, defeating Noakhali Express by 65 runs. Mirza Baig’s batting heroics, followed by an all-round bowling masterclass, powered Chattogram to a convincing win in Sylhet on Friday, December 26.

Here, we take a look at the entire highlights of the match 2 of the Bangladesh Premier League 2025-26 between Chattogram Royals and Noakhali Express as it panned out at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet on Friday, December 26.

Mirza Baig’s lone battle powers Chattogram to competitive total

Chattogram Royals won the toss and chose to bat first, posting a competitive 174 in 20 overs. The innings was anchored by Mirza Baig, whose calm presence right from the beginning ensured stability as partners kept falling at the other end.

Opening the innings, Mirza played a superb knock of 80, batting almost through the innings and absorbing pressure with maturity. Skipper Mahedi Hasan was the only one to provide some support with a quick 26 off 13 but failed to finish well.

With the ball, Noakhali had a decent outing, led by Hasan Mahmud with an exceptional spell of 1 for 25. Newly recruit Ihsanullah had an off day, while Sabbir Hossain, who claimed two wickets in his only over, finished as the top wicket-taker for the Royals.

Chattogram’s all-round bowling sinks Noakhali Express

Chasing 175, Noakhali Express began positively but failed to maintain momentum as Chattogram struck early. Shoriful Islam removed the dangerous Habibur Rahman in the third over, before Mahedi Hasan dismissed Sabbir Hossain to apply immediate pressure.

Tanvir Islam then joined the party, claiming another wicket to leave Noakhali reeling at 42 for 3 inside the powerplay. Despite intent to keep attacking, the regular fall of wickets put a break in their chase significantly.

Maaz Sadaqat and Jaker Ali attempted to rebuild the innings but Mahedi struck again to remove Jaker. Haider Ali tried accelerating later, but Tanvir returned to shatter hopes as Chattogram restricted Noakhali to 109, sealing their first win of BPL 2025-26.
