South Africa Women clinched their second successive thriller, this time over Bangladesh to register their third straight win this 2025 Women’s World Cup. Marizanne Kapp, Chloe Tryon and Nadine de Klerk rescued South Africa after yet another top-order failure in a clutch run-chase.

Here, we take a look at the entire highlights of the 14th match of the 2025 Women’s World Cup between Bangladesh Women and South Africa Women, as it panned out at the VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Monday, October 13.

Shorna Akter blitzes Bangladesh Women up to 232

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Bangladesh openers Fargana Hoque and Rubya Haider put up a 53-run partnership in 16 overs, with the latter chipping in with 25 off 52 balls. Fargana consumed 76 deliveries to score just 30 runs while number three Sharmin Akhter scored a 77-ball half-century before falling to a runout.

Captain Nigar Sultana cracked 32, and unbeaten Shorna Akter turbo-charged the Bangladesh Women innings up to a competitive 232-6 through her explosive 51* off just 35 balls with three fours and three sixes. Ritu Moni also blasted 19* from just eight balls at the death. For South Africa Women, Nonkululeko Mlaba sealed figures of 2-42 while Nadine de Klerk and Chloe Tryon chipped in with a wicket each.

South Africa Women lost opener Tazmin Brits for a first-ball duck to Nahida Akter in just the second over of the run chase. Captain Laura Wolvaardt (31 off 56) and number three Anneke Bosch (28 off 35) failed to capitalize their starts, before Rabeya Khan (1-48), Fahima Khatun (1-51) and Ritu Moni (1-29) reduced the Proteas Women to a troublesome 78-5 in 22.1 overs.

Marizanne Kapp led South Africa’s spirited fightback with a blistering 85-run partnership with Chloe Tryon. Both Kapp (56 off 71) and Tyron (62 off 69) bludgeoned dazzling half-centuries, before Nadine de Klerk (37* off 29) romped South Africa home in a last-over thriller with an explosive cameo.
