In an entertaining run-fest, LSG beat KKR by 4 runs to win the 21st game of the IPL 2025 season. A brutal assault from Mitch Marsh (81) and Nicholas Pooran (87) guided LSG to a big total of 238 runs. In the chase, KKR had a good head start  with 90-run powerplay. However, the middle order collapsed in death overs and KKR fell just 4 runs short to lose the game.

Here’s how LSG vs KKR panned out in Kolkata:

Mitch Marsh Fazes Out KKR With Brutal Onslaught

LSG batted first and openers Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh paid KKR bowler pay. The duo unleashed carnage with a 59-run powerplay and went on to knit a 99-run partnership for the opening wicket. In 11 overs, LSG had 100 runs on the board. Marsh did the most damage with a stunning knock of 81 off 48 balls. He hit Spencer Johnson for 18 runs in the 4th over before taking on Harshit Rana for 16 runs in the 6th over.

Nicholas Pooran’s Carnage Puts LSG On Top With Big Total

Once Marsh was dismissed by Andre Russell, Nicholas Pooran stepped out in the middle and became a nightmare for KKR bowlers. He slammed Johnson, Vaibhav Arora, Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine for 16 runs each in the 12th, 13th, 14th over, and 15th over respectively. In just 21 balls, Pooran had 50 runs to his name but he was hungry for more.

He went after Andre Russell in the 18th over to accumulate 24 runs with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Pooran finished with a massive 87* off 36 balls knock and powered LSG to a gigantic total of 238 runs. Meanwhile, for KKR, Harshit had a day to forget as he conceded 51 runs in 4 overs. Johnson also leaked 46 runs in just 3 overs of his spell.

LSG In Shambles After Narine-Rahane’s Slaughter

While the target set by LSG was steep, KKR responded with aggressive intent. Despite Quinton de Kock’s early wicket, Sunil Narine and Ajinkya Rahane went ballistic to own the powerplay. Both scored boundaries like a child’s play and brought up a mega 90-run powerplay. They consistently kept the scoring rate above 10 and LSG bowlers had no answer to the onslaught.

While Narine was dismissed on 30 off 13 balls, Rahane ensured KKR did not feel the damage. The KKR captain stitched up a quick 71-run partnership with Venkatesh Iyer before Shardul Thakur got rid of Rahane in an eventful over that consisted of 5 wides. The batter went for a big shot over a full toss but Nicholas Pooran caught him at extra cover, ending an entertaining knock of 61 off 35 balls.

KKR Loses A Narrow Game Despite Great Fireworks

After Ajinkya Rahane, KKR were hit with another big dismissal by Venkatesh Iyer who had scored 45 off 29 balls. While KKR seemed to have the chase under control, the lower order’s collapse turned the table back. Andre Russell was undone by Sharduk Thakur for just 7 runs as Angkrish also went back with 5 runs.

Rinku Singh, the highly rated finisher, tried his best by contributing 38* off just 15 balls. However, with 24 needed off the final over, he needed support and couldn’t find any, resulting in a close 4-run loss. LSG’s Ravi Bishnoi held the nerves in the last over to take his team through the finish line.
