The Mumbai batter came in to bat at number 3 while KKR was chasing a huge target of 239 runs, set by LSG. Quinton de Kock got out for 15 runs, and Rahane walked in during the 6th over of the innings.
Facing Avesh Khan, Rahane reached the 7000-run mark in style. Avesh bowled a short ball aimed at his body, and Rahane didn’t hesitate; he stayed deep in the crease and pulled the ball powerfully over the backward square leg for a massive six, measuring 83 meters. It was the second six of that over!
Rahane was on fire, hitting boundaries and sixes all over the ground and giving the LSG bowlers a tough time.
Earlier in the match, LSG had posted a massive total thanks to fiery knocks by Mitchell Marsh (81 runs), Nicholas Pooran (an unbeaten 87), and Aiden Markram (47 runs). At the time this was written, KKR are cruising at 90 runs for the loss of just 1 wicket in 6 overs, with Ajinkya Rahane and Sunil Narine at the crease.
