The stage is set for the fourth season of Lanka Premier League, and in the second game of the season, we have Jaffna Kings up against Galle Marvels. There have been wholesale changes in the teams, and both the teams would be itching to make a positive start.

Jaffna Kings

Jaffna are the two-time champions, but Thisara Perera is no longer their captain in this season with Charith Asalanka taking over the leadership role. However, the quality in the side is still there, with local batting stars like Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Avishka Fernando and Dhananjaya de Silva in their ranks. There are some powerful overseas batters as well like Rilee Rossouw, Alex Ross and all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai who can go big as well. 

So, there is plenty of talent on the batting front, and on the bowling front, they have pacers like Pramod Madushan and Jason Behrendorff. Noor Ahmad and Vijayakanth Viyastkanth are the two quality spinners, and overall, Jaffna Kings look like a balanced unit.

Galle Marvels

Galle Marvels, on the other hand, will be lead by Niroshan Dickwella and have overseas batters like Alex Hales, Tim Seifert and Sean Williams in their ranks. The likes of Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Lasith Croospulle and Janith Liyanage are the Sri Lankan batters in their ranks, so they are a bit light on experience compared to Jaffna and they need their overseas batters to fire.

On the bowling front, Dwaine Pretorius brings with him loads of experience while there are other quality bowlers as well like Lahiru Kumara, Maheesh Theekshana and Mujeeb Ur Rahman to name a few. So, let's see how Galle tackle Jaffna Kings in their opening encounter.
