Pakistan captain Babar Azam has a magnetic presence on the field, drawing throngs of fans wherever he plays. Currently, he's representing the Colombo Strikers in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023, which commenced on Sunday, July 30. 

In typical fashion, a sea of spectators showed up to witness Babar Azam's first appearance in the Lanka Premier League, where he played for the Colombo Strikers against the Jaffna Kings in the tournament opener at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. 

After winning the toss, the Colombo Strikers opted to field first. Amidst the excitement, a young fan couldn't contain his joy as he was repeatedly seen shouting Babar Azam's name, hoping for a wave from the cricket star. 

The heartwarming moment was captured on camera, and the video is now going viral on social media.

In terms of batting, it was a tough outing for Babar Azam as he could manage only seven runs from eight balls as Colombo Strikers finished 21 runs behind the target set by the Jaffna Kings.  

Earlier in the match, the Pakistan captain pulled off a sensational catch to dismiss Charith Asalanka. The batter tried to hit Lakshan Sandakan down the ground but holed out to Babar, stationed at long-off.
