Rinku Singh revisited the memorable moment of smashing five sixes off five balls in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 during a recent BCCI interview. The Uttar Pradesh hard-hitting batter smacked five sixes in a row to Gujarat Titans' Yash Dayal to close the game for Kolkata Knight Riders with 28 required off the last over. 

Reflecting on the momentous event, Rinku Singh revealed how hitting those five sixes transformed his life. Here's what he said in an interview with the BCCI: 

“Those five sixes were a turning point in my life. Before that, people knew me, but not many people really knew me. However, after those five sixes, many people started recognizing me.”

While Rinku didn't make it to the West Indies tour, he received a call-up for the Asian Games 2023, where he will be playing alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad and some youngsters for Team India. 

Reflecting on the selection, Rinku revealed that his family was ecstatic upon hearing the news:

“I was very emotional when I got the news about my selection for the Asian Games. I have done all the hard work throughout my life for this only. Everyone at home was happy. Friends and family were dancing. So I was very happy.”

Amidst the buzz, Rinku Singh reacted to the nickname 'Lord Rinku’ given to him by his dedicated fans: 

“The title of ‘Lord’ started coming my way after that remarkable inning only. I'm grateful for all the love and support from everyone." 

Rinku Singh had back-to-back standout IPL seasons, but it was the 15th edition where he truly shone as Kolkata Knight Riders' game-finisher. His remarkable form saw him amass 474 runs in just 14 matches at a staggering strike rate of 150 and an average of 59.52.  

With Team India currently undergoing a transition, they are keen on giving opportunities to young players. The Asian Games in 2023 will serve as a big platform for Rinku Singh to show his abilities and potentially earn a place in India's T20I team.
