KL Rahul Sends The Ball On The Roof; Slams 94-M Maximum Against Cameron Green

On a batting paradise in Indore's Holkar Stadium, India's stand-in captain, KL Rahul, has come out to the crease in good nick from the changing room itself. Rahul kick-started his innings with a second-ball maximum before he slammed the shot of the day - a slog-swat over cow-corner for a 94-meter maximum.

Against a slower delivery from Cameron Green in the 35th over, the keeper-batter read the length earlier and hoick the ball through the line to tonk it over the cow-corner region of the park.

Following a long lay-off due to his hip flexor injury, Rahul returned to professional cricket with a sensational hundred against Pakistan in the Super-4 fixture of the recently-concluded Asia Cup 2023, where India finished by being head-and-shoulders above the rest.

Since then, Rahul has shown brilliant performances one after the other, solving the Men in Blue's headache of a frail middle-order.

Talking about the ongoing fixture, the KL Rahul-led team may have lost the coin flip to lose Ruturaj Gaikwad early in the innings, but since then, nothing has gone against them. Shreyas Iyer joined in-form Shubman Gill in the middle in the fourth over to stitch a record-breaking 200-run stand as the duo hit their respective centuries.

At the time of writing, the Indian total has touched 290 after 39 overs, with Rahul batting at 38 off 22 balls and Ishan Kishan at 23 off 14.

If the Men in Blue continue at this tempo, they could easily surpass their highest ODI total - 418/5 versus West Indies in 2011.
