In a remarkable turn of events, Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill have surpassed the legendary duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to achieve a phenomenal feat during the second ODI against Australia in Indore. The stylish batters hammered the Australian bowlers across all parts of the ground to record the second-highest stand for India for the second wicket against Australia on home soil, overtaking the 186*-run partnership between Kohli and Sharma. 

The duo went on to add 200 runs, thereby breaking the long-standing record of highest 2nd wicket stand between Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman for India against the Aussies on home soil.

After being put into bat, India got off to a disastrous start, as Josh Hazlewood dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad in the fourth over. However, Iyer and Gill frustrated Australia with their scintillating stroke play, steading the Indian ship with perfection. Both batters adopted an aggressive approach and set the tone for a massive score for India through belligerent hitting. 

Riding on their stupendous batting performance, India have raced to 216 for one in just 30.4 overs, with Gill and Iyer batting on 95* and 101*, respectively.
