Team India doused West Indies by an innings and 140 runs in the first Test at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series. In India’s lone batting innings, senior opening batter KL Rahul as well as legendary all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja emerged as two of India’s three centurions, with the latter bagging the ‘Player of the Match’ award as well for his exceptional bowling effort on Day 3.

Nonetheless, both KL Rahul and Jadeja have now set themselves up for a major batting milestone, something they can easily achieve in the upcoming series-deciding second Test against the visitors.

KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja brace for huge Test milestones

KL Rahul recorded the 11th Test century of his career by scoring 100 runs off 197 balls against West Indies in the first Test of the series in Ahmedabad. The seasoned Indian opener also extended his run tally to 3,889 runs; coming within 111 runs of breaching the 4,000-figure mark.

His teammate Ravindra Jadeja also belted an unbeaten 104* off 176 balls to struck his sixth Test hundred and his second of the year. Moreover, Jadeja’s Test aggregate now comprises of 3,990 runs as the seasoned all-rounder also finds himself at the brink of completing 4,000 runs. However, Jadeja finds himself even closer to breaching the figure as he needs just 10 more runs to reach the milestone.

Both KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja might well easily bring up 4,000 runs in their Test careers in the upcoming series-deciding second Test against the West Indies. The match will be played between October 10 and October 14 and will be hosted by the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
