Tazmin Brits struck her seventh ODI century through the course of her run-chase masterclass against New Zealand Women in match number seven of the 2025 Women’s World Cup. Chasing 232 runs for a win, Brits belted 101 runs in just 89 balls with 15 frugal boundaries and a huge six at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.
The innings also marked Tazmin’s fifth ODI century of the calendar year 2025, as the prolific opening batter continues to make the most of her run-scoring ways off late.
Tazmin Brits secures huge Women’s ODI world record
South Africa Women opener Tazmin Brits aggregated 101 runs in 89 balls against New Zealand Women to chart her seventh ODI century and the fifth of the calendar year 2025. Through her latest effort, Brits has now surpassed Indian vice-captain and legendary opener Smriti Mandhana to record the highest number of ODI centuries in women’s cricket in a single year.
Mandhana previously listed four centuries each in the year 2024 as well as in the ongoing year 2025. Here is a look at three instances of players making the highest number of Women’s ODI centuries in a calendar year.
Most Women's ODI 100s in a Calendar Year:
Player | Number of centuries | Number of innings | Year |
Tazmin Brits | 5 | 11 | 2025 |
Smriti Mandhana | 4 | 13 | 2024 |
Smriti Mandhana | 4 | 16 | 2025 |
While Smriti Mandhana is yet to notch up a single notable score this 2025 Women’s World Cup, the legendary Indian opener has the opportunity to regain her lost touch with the bat. Mandhana might as well list her fifth ODI century of the year in the upcoming games of the tournament.
As of now, the Smriti Mandhana-starrer Indian team is gearing up to face none other than Tazmin Brits’ South African team in match number 10 on October 9 in Visakhapatnam.
