A number of IPL teams battled each other with kites on January 13 to commemorate the competitiveness of the upcoming IPL 2024 season as well as the Makar Sankranti festival.

Representatives of nearly all teams gathered around for an "intense kite-flying" event, which was aired on the official YouTube channels of the IPL 2024 broadcasters.

IPL 2024 teams take part in kite-flying battle

Representatives of nearly all IPL 2024 teams assembled for a kite-flying competition on January 13, i.e., a day before the Makar Sankranti festival. Each kite was inscribed with pictures of their respective star attractions, along with the colours of the team jerseys.

CSK captain MS Dhoni, Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson, Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill, Mumbai Indians leader Rohit Sharma and Punjab Kings' Shikhar Dhawan had their faces adorned on kites, soaring high in vibrant hues, creating a festive and competitive atmosphere.

Interestingly, the RCB contingent was adorned with the face of former skipper and legendary batsman Virat Kohli, even though Faf du Plessis is the current captain of the franchise.

The intense kite-flying, as described by the broadcasters of the IPL 2024 season, was streamed live on the official YouTube channel of Star Sports from 3:30 PM IST onwards on January 13.

Meanwhile, the IPL 2024 is set to commence from March 29 onwards. The tournament will be preceded by India's high-profile five-match Test series against the visiting Englishmen at home.

Each of the ten competing franchises enhanced and shaped up their IPL 2024 squads back in December during the auction event in UAE.
