Kagiso Rabada showcased his bowling prowess as he dismantled the Indian batting lineup on Day 1, securing his first-ever Test five-wicket haul against India at the SuperSport Park Cricket Stadium in Centurion.

With this, Rabada has also completed 500 wickets in international cricket and became just the seventh South African bowler to achieve this feat.

Rabada's scalps included Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Shardul Thakur.

Adding to his achievements, Kagiso Rabada has overtaken South African fast bowler Dale Steyn for the best bowling strike rate in Test cricket (with 200+ wickets).

Rabada boasts a remarkable 39.4 strike rate compared to Steyn's 42.4, while Pakistan's Waqar Younis claims the third spot with a 43.5 bowling strike rate.

  • Kagiso Rabada - 39.4
  • Dale Steyn - 42.4
  • Waqar Younis - 43.5

South Africa got off to a fantastic start as Rabada sent India's captain, Rohit Sharma, packing in the fifth over. He continued his dominance, claiming the wicket of Iyer with an outstanding delivery that left the Indian batter bewildered.

The pacer then followed it up by dismissing Virat Kohli, inducing a nick outside off, comfortably gathered by wicket-keeper Kyle Verreynne. Ashwin was then left bamboozled by Rabada's exquisite delivery, catching the all-rounder's gloves, and Wiaan Mulder made an easy catch in the third slip.

Rabada then claimed his next wicket in the form of Shardul, who, despite looking solid at 24, played an upshot only to find Dean Elgar in the deep as the Proteas pacer completed his five-wicket haul.
