Just Told Them About The Pressure...' Chahar After CSK's 10th IPL Final Entry

Chennai Super Kings seamer Deepak Chahar was at his brilliant best on Tuesday night as he brought his 'A' game to the table against defending champions Gujarat Titans on a surface that was ideal for his style of bowling.

Defending 173, CSK desperately needed their power play specialist to step up, and Deepak did that admirably well as he used the tacky nature of the pitch to good effect to strangle both Shubman Gill and especially Wriddhiman Saha.

He eventually dismissed Saha for an 11-ball 12, before returning in his 2nd spell to knock over Gill and effectively seal the game for his side.

Speaking to the host broadcaster, Deepak revealed that after seeing how the GT pacers bowled, he and the think-tank decided to bowl a full length, and it paid dividends.

He also spoke about tackling the pressure of playing in a playoff fixture, and how he motivated his younger group of players in the lead-up to the game.

''Everything's okay, one more to go. I think the length, we saw them bowling, it was sticking and we decided to bowl a full length, didn't experiment too much, let them (the batters) take the risks. Chasing 170 in a semi-final with the crowd against you is difficult. I have played in playoffs before, I just told them about the pressure (when asked about what he told the juniors), I just asked them to confident about their skills, just one ball or catch is very important at this stage. We have the belief, we have done it so many times (on reaching the finals), the benefit of having seniors in big contests matter a lot, we have been there previously and it does help.''

Chahar eventually finished with figures of 2/29 in 4 overs, and CSK fans will hope that he emulates the same in the final.
