Chennai Super Kings opener Ruturaj Gaikwad admitted in the post-match presentation that its been hard work for batsmen at the Chepauk in the 2nd half of the season after he was awarded the 'POTM' for his match-winning knock of 60 (44) against defending champions Gujarat Titans in Q1 on Tuesday.
On a surface that was extremely slow and two-paced, Gaikwad's 44-ball 60 ultimately proved to be the difference between the two sides as CSK went on to defend 172 against serial chasers, GT to book yet another spot in the final.
Gaikwad hammered 7 fours and a six in his knock before being ultimately dismissed by Mohit Sharma.
Speaking to the host broadcaster, Gaikwad spoke at length about the adjustments he has had to make while batting at the Chepauk, and on the difference between batting with with Devon Conway and previosusly, Faf du Plessis.
''Last 3-4 games in Chennai have been different. First few games wicket was better. Have had to adapt. Look to rotate strike, capitalise on loose deliveries. Both are great players (Conway and Faf). Faf was someone who was aggressive from ball one. Conway has great batsmanship. I would say the knock of 60 (what was more satisfying - 60 or the catch).''
Thanks to this win, the Super Kings will now contest the summit clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 28.
Gujarat, on the other hand, will face the winner of the Eliminator fixture between MI and LSG, which will also take place in Chennai on May 24.
