Jos Buttler completed 4,000 runs in his IPL career through the course of his latest knock against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) franchise at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. Batting at number three for the Gujarat Titans and arriving to the crease at the fall of in-form opener Sai Sudharsan, Buttler reached the landmark figure early in his innings.

Notably, the Englishman also attained a major batting record, going past the likes of South African heavyweights Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers in an elite list.

Jos Buttler, having made his IPL debut back in 2016 for the Mumbai Indians, completed 4,000 runs in the tournament with his latest knock against SRH in Ahmedabad on May 2. The cricketer also became the third fastest overseas player in IPL history to reach the landmark figure. Here is a look at five of the fastest overseas cricketers to complete 4,000 IPL runs.

So far in his IPL career, Jos Buttler has plundered seven centuries and 23 half-centuries as part of his 4,000-plus run tally. Maintaining an average of nearly 40, Buttler also holds a staggering batting strike rate of almost 150. He won the coveted ‘Orange Cap’ in the IPL 2022 season for mounting 863 runs in just 17 innings for the Rajasthan Royals.

Nonetheless, Gujarat Titans got off to a flier against SRH in match number 51 of the IPL 2025 season in Ahmedabad. Openers Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill bludgeoned 87 runs from the first seven overs until the former was dismissed by Zeeshan Ansari.

A win over SRH at this stage of the tournament will lift the Gujarat Titans up among the top three sides of the IPL 2025 season.
