Joe Root compiled a brisk half-century against West Indies in the second ODI of their three-match series. Chasing 309 runs in Cardiff, the cricketer raced to his fifty from 52 balls, thus notching up the 43rd half-century of his career and his second in succession this series.

Through the course of his fighting knock, Root became the leading ODI run-aggregator in England’s history, going past former cricketer and 2019 World Cup winning captain Eoin Morgan.
