In quest of 235, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) lost their way at the start losing wickets quickly as after the completion of 8.1 overs, they were 46 for three. In came Jason Roy, who took on the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowlers to smash them all over the park bringing his half-century in 19 balls which is also the second fastest of the season.

Roy struck as many as five sixes in his knock of 61 where he also found five boundaries to keep his side in the chase. His blistering show helped the Knight Riders to stay in the game as his counter-attacking show stole the limelight from CSK's batting juggernaut.

He has been in wonderful touch with 43 in the last game as well against Delhi Capitals, although, in a losing cause which also was his first match of the season.

Adding to this, he came in as a replacement for Shakib Al Hasan after the Bangladeshi all-rounder pulled out owing to personal reasons.

At the time of publishing, KKR were 156 for five after end of 16 overs.
