In a significant development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on Thursday, confirmed the rescheduling of the ongoing ODI series and the upcoming tri-nation T20I series on home soil. On Wednesday, several reputed media agencies reported that some of the Sri Lankan players were contemplating returning to their homeland, sensing a security threat in the war-torn country. However, after the interference of the PCB and ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi, the visitors, as well as the SLC, agreed to complete the tour as planned.

On Wednesday night, Mohsin Naqvi took to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, thanking the Sri Lankan board and its players for cooperating with the hosts during the turmoil. While Naqvi had revealed that the remaining two ODIs of the Pakistan-Sri Lanka series would be postponed by a day each, the PCB confirmed the same through an official press release.

So, the second and third ODIs, originally scheduled for November 13 and 15, will now be played on November 14 and 16, respectively. The tri-series, which was set to kick off on November 17, has also been postponed and will commence on the day after.

"The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) today announced changes to the schedule of the ongoing One-Day International (ODI) series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, as well as the upcoming T20I Tri-Nation Tournament involving Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. The decision to revise the schedule was made in consultation with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC), following mutual discussions to accommodate operational and match requirements," the PCB stated.

Pakistan's apex cricketing body further revealed that the remaining two ODIs, as well as all matches of the tri-series, will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium

The tri-series, having Zimbabwe alongside Pakistan and Sri Lanka as the participating teams, was scheduled to be played from November 17 to 29 across two cities- Rawalpindi and Lahore. However, keeping the players' safety in mind amid Pakistan's armed conflict with Afghanistan and in the aftermath of a bomb blast in Islamabad, the PCB has decided to conduct it entirely in Rawalpindi.
