India assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate has all but confirmed that Dhruv Jurel will make it to the Indian playing XI for the upcoming first Test of the two-match series against South Africa. While speaking with the reporters a couple of days prior to the series opener, Doeschate cited Dhruv Jurel’s prolific touch with the bat in first-class cricket behind his selection, even though regular wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is making his return to the team. The first Test between India and South Africa will be hosted by the Eden Gardens in Kolkata between November 14 and November 18.
Sean Abbott ruled out, Hazlewood fit for first Ashes Test vs England
Australian fast bowler Sean Abbott has been ruled out of the upcoming series-opening first Ashes Test match against England later this month between November 21 and November 25 at the Optus Stadium in Perth. The speedster complained of hamstring issues while playing for New South Wales against Victoria at the SCG in the Sheffield Shield 2025 season.
His pace mate and senior man Josh Hazlewood, meanwhile, has been cleared to play the series opener despite suffering from a problematic hamstring scare.
South African stars Muthusamy and Wolvaardt clinch ICC honours
South African all-rounder Senuran Muthusamy and women’s captain Laura Wolvaardt won the ICC Player of the Month awards for the month of October 2025 under men’s and women’s categories respectively. Muthusamy played a key role in South Africa’s two-match Test series against Pakistan last month, picking up 11 wickets in two matches and scoring over 100 runs, which included a match-winning 89 Rawalpindi.
Laura Wolvaardt, on the other hand, led the South Africa Women team into the final of the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup, and top scored in the tournament with 571 runs at a prolific average of 67.14.
Rohit Sharma to play VHT 2025, Virat Kohli uncertain: Report
Legendary Indian opener Rohit Sharma will likely play a handful of matches for the Mumbai cricket team in the upcoming 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy season, as reported by the Indian Express. The availability of his national teammate Virat Kohli, however, is yet to be clarified by the cricketer. The report indicated that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) wants both Rohit and Kohli to pursue domestic cricket in their path towards the 2027 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup.
Ravindra Jadeja wants Royals captaincy in Samson trade deal: Report
Legendary Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has expressed his desire to lead the Rajasthan Royals franchise in case he gets swapped in a trade with franchise veteran Sanju Samson, as reported by News18. The Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchises are already in active talks with each other for a potential player trade involving Sanju Samson and Jadeja ahead of next year’s IPL 2026 season. It is worth noting that if Royals agreed to a trade, they will be letting go of their regular captain.
