On Wednesday, September 24, India locked horns against Bangladesh in the Super Four match at the Dubai International Stadium. The Men in Blue, batting first, got off to another flying start as the Shubman Gill-Abhishek Sharma opening pair registered another fifty-plus partnership.

Notably, India lost their first wicket for 77 runs on the board after 6.2 overs, and Suryakumar Yadav, instead of coming to bat at his usual No.3 position, demoted himself and sent Shivam Dube up the order.

Why did India send Shivam Dube Up The Order against Bangladesh?

Notably, India has gambled with the batting order several times in this Asia Cup, but the ongoing match against Bangladesh is not like Hong Kong, where the batting order was jumbled for experimentation.

Instead, Shivam Dube was sent up the order because of the perception that the southpaw plays the spinners well. Notably, Dube went to bat after seven overs, and Bangladesh have a lot of spinners, who bowl in the middle-orders. However, the gamble failed and Dube could not justify his promotion.
