Prasidh Krishna, the Indian fast bowler, suffered a blow on his head while attempting a pull shot against Australian fast bowler Henry Thornton on day 2 of the second unofficial Test. India A are up against Australia A in Lucknow currently and are facing the heat after a poor batting show.

Yash Thakur Replaces Prasidh Krishna As Concussion Substitute

India were bowled out for just 194 after 420 by Australia in their first innings, and thus, Indian bowlers were required to bat and show patience in the middle. Prasidh Krishna, in his 25-ball stay, scored 16 runs but was hit on the helmet in the 39th over. He continued to bat after some treatment, but then walked off the field after 42 overs.

When his services were needed again after the loss of nine wickets, Yash Thakur walked in as a concussion substitute, suggesting that Prasidh's injury is serious than initially anticipated. The blow comes just on the eve of India's Test selection for the two-match Test series against the West Indies.

Prasidh Krishna Eye WI Tests After Hot And Cold Red-Ball Performances

Prasidh Krishna was one of the major pace bowlers for India in the Test series against England recently and is likely to retain his place if he is fit. The pacer though has also not been in great form for India A against Australia A. He went wicketless in the first Test, and bagged just a solitary wicket in the first innings of the second Test. The cricketer, though, bowled well at the Oval during India's historic Test win, while he was inconsistent in other Test matches.

Overall, the West Indies series is an opportunity for Prasidh Krishna to show his mettle in home conditions if selected. However, it would be a big personal blow for him if he misses out due to this last-minute blow to the head.
