Persistent rain halted the first T20I of the three-match series between Ireland and India on Friday, August 18 at The Village in Dublin. The Men in Blue, however, was fortunate enough to surpass the DLS par score when the weather gods played tricks on them.

India reached 47/2 in 6.5 overs with Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad in the middle before the rain started to fall. By that point, they had to score at least 45 runs after holding Ireland to 139/7.

Although the hosts were only able to reach there because of a remarkable comeback by batters in the lower order, led by Barry McCarthy.

Here's the live footage of the rain in Dublin during Ireland vs India match:

Earlier, Jasprit Bumrah stole the show by scalping two wickets in the opening over. The ace pacer, on his return to international cricket after 11 months, dismissed Andy Balbirnie and Lorcan Tucker to send Ireland a massive blow upfront.

Prasidh Krishna and Ravi Bishnoi joined forces, as Ireland left reeling at 31/5, were on the verge of a humiliating collapse. However, Barry McCarthy’s counterattacking half-century, ably supported by Curtis Campher (39) and Mark Adair (16), saved the day as the hosts closed on 139/7.
