Shreyas Iyer, the newest Punjab Kings recruit in the IPL failed to justify his price tag and was dismissed cheaply in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024 contest. Playing for Mumbai against Services, the right-handed batter couldn't get going on a relatively flat track.
Mumbai batted first and were jolted with early wicket of Prithvi Shaw (0). However, Iyer took the charge and played some delightful strokes to counter the Services bowling attack. He struck 4 boundaries in his short stay, but just when things were going smooth for the Punjab player, disaster struck.
Opposition bowler, Vikas Yadav dismissed the Mumbai batter as Iyer, who looked compact was dismissed by a relatively unknown bowler in a crucial match. The second most expensive player in IPL history got out for a score of 20 off 14 balls.
