Marcus Stoinis has finally arrived in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. He hardly had any impact in the first three matches of the tournament, but roared back in style in the ongoing match against the RCB.
He slammed his first fifty of the season and has kept the Lucknow Super Giants alive in the run-chase of 213.
After an onslaught by Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell, it was time for the Stoinis show as the Aussie all-rounder used the small dimensions of the Chinnaswamy ground to perfection and took a special liking towards the RCB spinners.
The innings started on a bad note for the visitors, having lost Kyle Mayers for a duck. Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya also departed in quick successions as LSG were reeling at 23 for 3. This is when Stoinis came to life and was the chief aggressor when KL Rahul for struggling for runs.
Rahul was kept silent by the RCB bowlers as the pressure increased on Stoinis to increase the run-rate, and he did just that. The power-hitter struck 6 fours and 5 sixes, en-route a brilliant 65. But just when he tried to take things on a different level, Karn Sharma struck the gold and sent him back to the pavilion.
