Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match No. 68 of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Saturday, May 20 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.  Both sides are meeting each other for the first and last time in the league phase of this campaign and it will also be their last game before the Playoffs. However, before the game goes live, here is a look at the KKR vs LSG head-to-head record.

The Knight Riders have blown hot and cold this season as they have played 13 matches with 6 victories and 7 defeats. With 12 points and a net run rate of -0.256, they are placed in the seventh position in the table. They need to win this encounter and then hope for other results to go their way to find a spot in the final four. The chances of them qualifying for the next round looks bleak.

KKR Last Match in IPL 2023

The 2012 and 2014 IPL winners, KKR played their last game against Chennai Super Kings in Match No. 61 in Chennai where they beat the home side by a margin of 6 wickets.

CSK skipper, MS Dhoni won the toss and the Super Kings elected to bat first. Openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway scored 17 and 30 runs respectively. Shivam Dube top-scored for his side with a knock of 48 off 34 as the hosts managed to reach a total of 144/6 in 20 overs. Spinners Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy picked up two wickets each for KKR.

Chasing just 145, captain Nitish Rana led his side from the front by smashing 57* off 44 while the star of the tournament, Rinku Singh racked up 54 off 43 with 4 fours and 3 maximums. Deepak Chahar was the pick of the CSK bowlers for his spell of 3/27 (3). KKR completed the chase in 18.3 overs as Rinku also grabbed the Player of the Match award.


LSG in IPL 2023

LSG have been impressive yet again in their second season in the IPL. Krunal Pandya's side has played 13 matches with 7 wins and just 5 losses. With 15 points and an NRR of +0.304, they are placed in the third spot in the table. A win here would guarantee them a place in the Playoffs. 

 LSG Last Match in IPL 2023

LSG played their last match against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Match No. 63 in Lucknow where the home side snatched a crucial 5-run victory.

MI captain, Rohit Sharma won the toss and MI opted to field first. Krunal Pandya, the LSG skipper, scored 49 off 42 but Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis stole the show with his brutal hitting. The right-handed batter hammered his best IPL score of 89 from just 47 which included 4 fours and 8 maximums as the Super Giants posted a total of 177/3 on the board in their allotted 20 overs. Pacer Jason Behrendorff was MI's best bowler for his spell of 2/30 (4).

In reply, wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan struck 59 off 39 while Rohit amassed 37 off 25. Tim David remained not out on 32 off 19 with 1 fours and 3 sixes but he failed to take his side over the line. Ravi Bishnoi and Yash Thakur picked up 2 wickets each as the visitors got restricted to 172/5. For his game-changing knock, Stoinis was adjudged with the Player of the Match award.

Both sides last met in Match No. 66 of IPL 2022 in Navi Mumbai where the Super Giants won the contest by a narrow margin of just 2 runs. The match will be truly remembered for Quinton de Kock's blistering unbeaten century.

LSG batted first and they made KKR bowlers toil hard as they didnt lose a single wicket. de Kock hammered 140* off just 70 which included 10 fours and as many maximums. His opening partner KL Rahul, the skipper struck 68* off 51 with 3 fours and 4 sixes. LSG posted a mammoth  total of 210/0 on the board in their allotted 20 overs. 

In reply, Nitish Rana and captain Shreyas Iyer scored 42 and 50 runs respectively. Wicketkeeper batter Sam Billings struck 36 while Rinku Singh played a blazing knock of 40 from just 15 balls with 2 fours and 4 maximums. But it wasn't enough as the Knight Riders fell just short of their target. Mohsin Khan and Stoinis picked up 3 wickets each for LSG. For his magnificent ton, de Kock won the Player of the Match award.
