Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) square off against each other in Match No. 67 of the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) on May 20, 2023, at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi at 3.30 PM IST. Both teams will play their last league match of the season with DC being already eliminated while a CSK victory would guarantee their place in the top four. The Capitals played their last game against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Match No. 64 in Dharamsala where David Warner's side emerged victorious by a margin of 15 runs.

Skipper Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and PBKS elected to field first. Warner scored 46 off 31 while his opening partner Prithvi Shaw finally struck form with his knock of 54 off 38. But it was Rilee Rossouw's show at the picturesque HPCA Stadium as he hammered his maiden IPL half-century. The left-hander racked up 82* off just 37 with 6 fours and as many maximums as the visitors reached a mammoth total of 213/2 in 20 overs. Sam Curran was the pick of the PBKS bowlers for his spell of 2/36 (4).

In reply, Dhawan bagged a golden duck while Prabhsimran Singh scored 22. Atharva Taide made 55 off 42 and after Rossouw, it was Liam Livingstone who smashed it all round the park. The English international slammed 94 off just 48 with 5 fours and 9 maximums but unfortunately couldnt get his side over the line. The Kings got restricted to 198/8 with seamers Anrich Nortje and Ishant Sharma picking up 2 wickets each. Rossouw won the Player of the Match award for his terrific unbeaten fifty.


CSK in IPL 2023

The Super Kings have played good cricket throughout the season under the stewardship of MS Dhoni. The Men in Yellow have appeared in 13 matches with 7 wins and 5 losses. With 15 points and an NRR of +0.381, they are placed in the second spot in the table. 

CSK Last Match in IPL 2023

CSK suffered a defeat at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their last outing in Chennai where the visitors sealed the deal by a margin of 6 wickets.

Dhoni won the toss and opted to bat first. Left-handers Devon Conway and Shivam Dube scored 30 and 48 runs respectively but the rest of the batting line-up failed to contribute. Spinners Varun Chakaravarthy and Sunil Narine shared two scalps each as CSK got restricted to just 144/6 in 20 overs.

In reply, captain Nitish Rana struck an unbeaten 57 off 44 while Rinku Singh smashed 54 off 43 as the Knight Riders completed the chase in 18.3 overs. The latter grabbed the Player of the Match award for his crucial half-century.
