Brief Scores: South Africa Women: 215-8 (50 overs) [Laura Wolvaardt: 61 (57), Tazmin Brits: 38 (66); Deepti Sharma 2/27 (10), Arundhati Reddy 2/36 (10)] were defeated by India Women: 220-4 (40. overs) [Smriti Mandhana: 90 (83), Harmanpreet Kaur: 42 (48); Ayabonga Khan 1/38 (9), Tumi Sekhukhune 1/43 (8.4)] by six wickets.

India Women wrapped up a series sweep against South Africa Women with a commanding six-wicket win at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in the third ODI on Sunday.

Smriti Mandhana spearheaded the chase with a stellar knock of 90, guiding India to a comprehensive victory. Earlier, the bowlers worked like a well-oiled machine, leaving no stone unturned to restrict SA-W to 215/8.

Their collective effort ensured a clinical performance that left the South African batting lineup in tatters. This victory was the cherry on top, as India showcased their brilliance and dominance throughout the series, finishing it in style.

Wolvaardt and Brits Shine, But Arundhati and Deepti Lead India's Fierce Comeback

After opting to bat first, South Africa Women's openers Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits laid a solid foundation with a partnership of 102 runs for the first wicket.

Wolvaardt's impressive knock of 61 and Brits' steady 38 provided a formidable start. However, the Indian Women's team mounted a remarkable comeback. Arundhati Reddy initiated India's fightback by dismissing Wolvaardt with a brilliant return catch.

From there, the wickets began to tumble, exacerbated by two disastrous run-outs, one of which was Britts. Marizanne Kapp (7), Anneke Bosch (5) and Sune Luus (13) departed cheaply by Shreyanka Patil, Arundhati Roy, and Pooja Vastrakar respectively.

Despite the setbacks, Nadine de Klerk contributed a stabilizing 26 in the middle order, but her efforts were cut short by Deepti Sharma, who struck twice in the 43rd over, turning the tide further in India's favour.

Mieke de Ridder, batting at number 8, played a crucial role. Her unbeaten 26 off 31 balls helped South Africa cross the 200-run mark and post 215/8.

Deepti Sharma emerged as the standout bowler with figures of 2/27, while Arundhati Reddy achieved her best figures in WODIs with 2/36. Shreyanka Patil and Pooja Vastrakar also chipped in with a wicket each.

Mandhana, Harmanpreet Shine Again as India Completes Sweep

Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma got the hosts off to a flying start, reaching 53/0 in the first 10 overs. Shafali, however, couldn’t build on her promising start, falling for 25 off 39 balls to Tumi Sekhukhune.

Mandhana, continuing her purple patch, scored a fine half-century, adding to her two centuries from the previous games. Priya Punia, playing her first game of the series, showed promise during her stint in the middle but but failed to convert her start into a big innings and was dismissed for 28 by Ayabonga Khaka.

Mandhana, swinging for the fences on 90, got a top edge and missed the chance for a hat-trick of centuries.

The match tightened towards the end with the wicket of Harmanpreet Kaur, but Jemimah Rodrigues, with a calm and composed 19*, and Richa Ghosh, who smashed a six to seal the deal, ensured India wrapped up the series in style.
