It's start of the a new WTC cycle for India and West Indies as they gear up for a two-match Test series in the Caribbean. Windies have started on a bright note as they have won an all-important toss here in the beautiful Windsor Park in the island of Dominica The West Indian skipper, Kraigg Brathwaite has elected to bat first and the big news is that Alick Athanaze will make debut for the home team.

As far as India is concerned, they have two debutants - Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan. Yashasvi Jaiswal will open the innings for India and Gill will bat at 3 in this Test match as mentioned by Rohit Sharma in the press conference yesterday while Ishan Kishan will take the wicketkeeping duties after KS Bharat failed to impress in the opportunities he got earlier.

India have decided to go with three pacers and two spinners. The three pacers are Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, and Jaydev Unadkat. So, Mukesh Kumar and Navdeep Saini miss out in the pace department, while Ashwin and Jadeja will form the spin duo.

West Indies are also playing two spinners in the form of Jomel Warrican and Rahkeem Cornwall while Alick Athanaze who has been a consistent scorer in domestic cricket would be looking to make a big impact on his debut.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul, who has impressed one and all in his short Test career so far would also be a man in focus while as always, Virat Kohli would be closely observed especially after he failed to deliver in the recently completed WTC Final.

Here is what two captains said -

Kraigg Brathwaite (West Indies Captain): "We will bat first. Interesting surface. Generally, it is a bit dry. But now it has some moisture on it but should play a bit better. We had a 10-day camp in Antigua prior to the series. Brain Lara was with us in the camp and it was a great few days of training with the great (Lara). We were in a good position in the previous two WTC cycles. The boys are positive moving into this. Yes, Alick Athanaze is making his Test debut. The two guys who are out are Kirk McKenzie and Shannon Gabriel. Two spinners- Jomel Warrican and Rahkeem Cornwall are playing."

Rohit Sharma (India Captain): "The preparation has been good so far. We are here for a while now. We started off with Barbados, played a practice game there. We've been in Dominica for the last four days. It's been good preparation for us although rain played a bit of spoilsport for us but I thought we are very well prepared for this Test match and we are looking forward to it.The Championship final is still couple of years from now. The 2 cycles we've played, we played some consistent cricket which is why we played 2 finals and this is something which we can take forward, we want to get better as a team. There are a few new guys in the team as well. Hopefully we can get good perspective from the last 2 cycles and this will be no different for us. We want to keep getting better as a team.
