Kusal Perera went on to smack 53 runs from just 34 deliveries to top-score for Sri Lanka. Unfortunately for the hosts, his dismissal triggered a lower-order batting collapse as they managed to conjure just 161-9 from 20 overs.

Axar Patel picked up two wickets in the final over to claim figures of 2-30, while Ravi Bishnoi finished with 3-26 after adding two to his tally at the death. Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya also claimed two wickets each in the Sri Lankan innings.

Despite losing Sanju Samson for a first-ball duck to Maheesh Theekshana, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal smacked 30 runs from 15 balls and took India past the 50-run mark with captain Suryakumar Yadav (26 off 12 balls).

Following the dismissal of Suryakumar Yadav to Matheesha Pathirana at 51-2, Hardik Pandya arrived to the middle and smeared three boundaries and a six during his nine-ball unbeaten stay at the crease. The charismatic all-rounder scored 22* runs in all, and ensured Team India romped past the finishing line in just 6.3 overs with seven wickets to spare.
