Suryakumar Yadav played one too many strokes in a chase of 78 runs in the rain-curtained game between Sri Lanka and India at Pallekele on Sunday. Suryakumar was undone by Matheesha Pathirana, who bowled a pace-on delivery to outfox India's Mr. 360.

Suryakumar, who came to the middle after Sanju Samson's golden duck, got flying from the word go as he unleashed his sweep shots against both spinners and seamers.

The Indian captain creamed four boundaries and one biggie in his 26-run knock, but he had to return to the dressing room while continuing his assault against CSK's nurtured Pathirana.

After notching a maximum via a sweep past fine leg, SKY tried taking the heat on by going over long-on, but the pace-on got big on him as he handed an easy catch to Dasun Shanaka near the ropes.

However, Surya's dismissal didn't deter India's aggressive pursuit of the target. The team, led by Hardik Pandya, continued their relentless march, ultimately securing a convincing victory in the second T20I.

It was not just Suryakumar's 26, but also Yashasvi Jaiswal's rapid 15-ball 30, and Pandya's unbeaten 22 off just nine balls that contributed to India's victory in the chase. Their collective effort and unity as a team were truly commendable.

With the ball, Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel, and Hardik Pandya were the pick of the bowlers, with two wickets apiece. Whereas, Ravi Bishnoi was the real game-turner for his 3 for 26.

Under the new leadership of Gautam Gambhir and Surya, India have bagged a handsome series victory over Sri Lanka with one game still to go.
