The India vs South Africa T20I series has been riveting so far, and with three matches done and dusted, India have a slender lead of 2-1 as the fourth match of the series takes place at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Another victory for India will propel them to a white-ball leg win over the South African side after the humiliation in Tests.

However, an unfortunate event occurred as the toss, which was supposed to take place at 6:30 PM IST, was delayed, not due to rain, but because of the fog in Lucknow, and conditions didn’t permit the game to start on time. An inspection is set to take place at 6:50 PM, and only after it, a call will be taken by the umpires.

Why places in North India (Lucknow) get excessive fog

North Indian places like Delhi and Lucknow witness extreme fog in winter due to a mixture of cold temperatures, high humidity from rivers, and Western Disturbances. The region has proximity to the Himalayas, and major nearby rivers provide ample moisture, which brings cool air.

Pollution from burning, vehicles, and other industrial waste makes the fog denser and more like smog as the visibility decreases.

Major change for India before toss

Even before the toss, Team India has made a last-minute change as star batter, Shubman Gill has been ruled out of the match due to a foot injury, and his participation in the last T20I also remains under dark clouds.

His replacement in the playing XI is yet to be revealed, but most likely, Sanju Samson could be the one who slots back in.
