In a significant development, India’s ODI captain and T20I vice-captain, Shubman Gill, is set to miss the fourth T20I of the five-match series against South Africa, set to take place at Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. The 26-year-old, as confirmed by Cricbuzz and PTI, has sustained a foot injury which forced him to rule himself out of the upcoming match, as well as the last T20I match as well.

"Out-of-form India vice-captain Shubman Gill has been ruled out of the last two T20I games against South Africa with a toe injury. It is learnt that Gill has sustained the injury during training session and all precautionary measures are being taken to ensure his speedy recovery," a PTI report read.
While the toss has been delayed due to extreme fog in Lucknow, the PTI report further added that Sanju Samson is expected to open the batting alongside Abhishek Sharma in the forthcoming contest.
Having made 4, 0 and a run-a-ball 28 respectively, Gill was having a tough time in the ongoing South Africa series until suffering an injury.
