With two consecutive defeats in the first two Tests, Australia will look to make a comeback against India when they face them in the third game of the series to be played at Holkar Stadium, Indore.

With the trophy already being retained by India, the visitors would hope to level the four-match series as they would aim to win the remaining two matches.

Team Preview: India

  • Strengths: An extremely useful set of all-rounders in form of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel who could decimate the opposition with their unplayable deliveries along with scoring in bulk with the bat.
  • Concerns: KL Rahul's struggle isn't hidden from anyone in the series and they will surely look to improve on that.

India have been outrightly dominant in the home conditions mainly due to the fact that spin isn't everyone's cup of tea and especially when they face the duo of Ashwin-Jadeja.

Moreover, lethal seaming deliveries of Mohammed Shami have been quite effective in these conditions causing the visitors some serious trouble.

Skipper Rohit Sharma has looked in touch with the bat as he thumped a classy century in the first game in Nagpur and again, he could pile on plenty of runs in this game.

The most important thing that India needs to ponder upon is whether they should persist with out-of-form KL Rahul or bring in youngster Shubman Gill who has been in form lately.

Team Preview: Australia

  • Strengths: Usman Khawaja at the top of the order who knows how to handle spin well along with tweakers Nathan Lyon and Todd Murphy in the bowling department.
  • Concerns: Fragile batting order that gets cleaned up in no time if the ball does something off the surface.

Everything is trouble at the moment for the visiting Australian side which is plagued with injuries along with their skipper Pat Cummins returning home to stay with his mother who is not well.

Usman Khawaja and Peter Handscomb played resilient knocks in the Delhi Test and would be hoping to continue their show with support from other batters.

Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne couldn't really fire in the previous game as they fell victim to some brilliant bowling, especially by R Ashwin.

Furthermore, they were frustrated by the home side's lower middle order which piled on runs bringing them back into the game.

Match Details

Date and Time: March 1, 9:30 AM IST
Venue: Holkar Stadium, Indore
Live Telecast & Streaming: Star Sports Network and Disney+ Hotstar

Pitch Report: With red soil being used for this encounter, the ball would have an extra turn and bounce something similar to what Mumbai wicket produces. With some more bounce on offer, teams might be tempted to add an additional pacer in their line-ups. Batting might be a tad easier unlike what we have seen in the previous two games.

Prediction

The battle is expected to be a tight one but again looks unlikely that Australia will succeed on these tough surfaces. Hence, India are expected to win this one and take the series.
