David Wiese's Too Good Spell Sinks United By A Massive Margin

Defending 201 for victory, David Wiese delivered figures of 3 for 17 to bowl out Islamabad for just 90, handing them a huge loss by a margin of 110 runs.

Shafique, Raza powers Lahore to 200

Opting to bat first, Lahore Qalandars' opening duo of Mirza Baig and Fakhar Zaman fired well to stitch a 50-run partnership inside the powerplay. The run rate was always on the higher side even when Baig departed for 20 and was replaced by Abdullah Shafique in the seventh over.

Meanwhile, Fakhar blasted at the top with 23-ball 36 with five fours and a six to help his side keep up their scoring rate. Conversely, Shafique was all guns blazing as he thrashed 45 runs with two sixes and four boundaries to his name from just 24 balls.

Later, Sam Billings and Sikandar Raza joined the party alongside Rashid Khan who took the score to 200 after the end of 20 overs with seven wickets down. England's Tom Curran was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/34 in his four overs.

With a daunting target of 201 on the board, things were already looking complicated for Islamabad United. Colin Munro and Rahmanullah Gurbaz smacked 41 off the first four overs to keep them in the game until the latter fell for 23.

Soon after, his opening partner followed the trait, as they two down for 54. The problem grew further when they lost their next four wickets for just 14 runs. Three of those times it was David Wiese who bowled a magnificent spell of 3/17 in three overs adding to his opponents' worries.

Rashid from the other end was terrific too with his 2/8 from three overs, ending all their hopes. All of a sudden, the scoreboard read 81 for seven after the end of 11 overs. The fourteenth over bowled by Sikandar Raza saw all three remaining wickets fall as one got run out and the other two went to the bowler.

Being bowled out for just 90, the deficit was 110 runs badly impacted their Net Run-Rate.
