One of the most prolific coaches in the women's circuit, Ben Sawyer has been outstanding with several teams he has coached. His experience of working with various teams all over the globe would come in handy when he takes charge of the Royal Challenger Bangalore's side for the inaugural season of the Women's Premier League (WPL).

The 45-year-old is coming off from the Women's T20 World Cup campaign in South Africa where he was overseeing the New Zealand side in the competition. The former Australian Women's team's assistant coach is also involved with the Birmingham Phoenix in the Hundred alongside taking the lead role previously with Sydney Sixers Women.

However, with all this plethora of experience, Sawyer admitted that this is kind of his dream job as working with a brand as big as RCB is a big plus point.

To the unversed, the Bangalore-based side bought one of the five teams in the WPL with Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz being the other four.

What Sawyer said in his statement

“This is an amazing opportunity. I am part of such an iconic brand and the club in the first WPL, it’s pretty much a dream job. I am really looking forward to it and I have been excited for a number of weeks. It feels really nice to get started out here.

“The first part of a camp is to determine the skill levels of the various players. Then act accordingly, helping them with their strength and fitness as it has become an important part of the games too."

WPL begins on the 4th of March with the first match between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants to be played at the DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai.
