The One-Day Cup 2025 saw fireworks in Northampton on Friday as Yorkshire’s Imam-ul-Haq produced a batting masterclass that left Northamptonshire gasping for air, and even India's spin maestro Yuzvendra Chahal found himself in the firing line.

Yorkshire, who batted first, scored a giant 374/5 in their 50 overs, driven heavily by Imam's unbeaten 159 from 130 deliveries, an innings that was full of grace, rhythm, and outright domination.

Yuzvendra Chahal Fails To Contain Imam-Ul-Haq In One-Day Cup

The Pakistani opener dismantled Northamptonshire’s bowling attack with 20 boundaries and 2 towering sixes, blending textbook cover drives with audacious pulls.

This was no hit-and-miss cameo; Imam-Ul-Haq anchored the innings beautifully, stitching partnerships with William Luxton (41) and James Wharton (66) before exploding in the death overs.

The real carnage came when Matthew Revis joined the party. His 33-ball 69 at a mind-boggling strike rate of 209.09 saw Yuzvendra Chahal’s usually tight leg-spin come under pressure.

Chahal, who has been a match-winner in countless white-ball games, was met with calculated aggression. Though he claimed the prized wicket of Wharton, his 10 overs went for 69 runs, as Yorkshire’s middle order refused to let him settle into a rhythm.

For Northamptonshire, Liam Guthrie was the only bowler to taste real success, finishing with figures of 3 for 87, though at a costly economy. Chahal’s challenge was compounded by a flat pitch and short boundaries, but to Imam's credit, he picked lengths early and swept with precision to nullify the leg-spinner’s variations.

By the end of the innings, Yorkshire had set a steep target of 375. In reply, Northamptonshire crawled to 31/0 in 8 overs, still needing 344 runs at a required rate of 8.19.
