MI Emirates beat Gulf Giants by 5 wickets in the 26th match of the ILT20 2025 season. The Giants posted a decent total of 174 runs on the board after James Vince slammed 86 off 50 balls. However, despite quick wickets in the second inning, MI Emirates stole an inspiring victory courtesy of skipper Nicholas Pooran’s unbeaten half-century and Romario Shepherd’s quickfire 23 off 9 balls.

Here's how Gulf Giants vs MI Emirates panned out in Dubai:

Giants vs Emirates Highlights: James Vince demoralises Emirates bowling unit

Gulf Giants batted first on a flat track but were off to a false start as Gerhard Erasmus was dismissed off 12 off 9 balls by Akeal Hosein. The batter tried to slog sweep a tossed-up delivery in the middle but only managed a top-edge which landed in the safe hands of Rohid Khan.

However, captain James Vince took charge of the inning to slam a sublime half-century. He hit 10 fours and a solo six to finish with 85 off 50 balls. Jordan Cox (20) and Shimron Hetmyer (15) also did their part to help the skipper and by the end of the first 20 overs, Gulf Giants had 173 runs on the board at the loss of 6 wickets.

Rohit Khan picked up 2 wickets for MI Emirates, but Fazal Farooqi had a rare off day as he went for 52 in his 4-over spell.

Giants vs Emirates Highlights: Aayan Khan breaks partnership at right time for Giants

Muhammad Waseem and Andre Fletcher were off to a good start with a 44-run opening partnership. However, Aayan Khan dismissed Waseem by forcing him to make a mistake on an ordinary ball. He struck again to remove dangerous in-form batter Tom Banton off just 11 off 13 balls.

He bowled a shortish and slower delivery and aimed at the stumps. Banton attempted to back away and play a cover drive but ended up getting an outside edge. The ball was easily caught by Daniel Worrall at short third man, leading to MI Emirates’ second wicket.

Giants vs Emirates Highlights: Pooran, Shepherd steals stunning win for Emirates

Kusal Perera’s run out in the 8th over further put MI Emirates in jeopardy with just 61 runs on the board. However, captain Nicholas Pooran slammed a sublime half-century under pressure. He hit 58* off 37 balls, including 6 boundaries and 3 maximums.

Moreover, Romario Shepherd unleashed his inner beat to hammer quick 23 runs off mere 9 deliveries. His acceleration helped MI Emirates seal an astonishing 5-wicket victory with 5 balls to spare.
