In a high-scoring thriller, Dubai Capitals beat Abu Dhabi Knight Riders by 26 runs. David Warner slammed a majestic 93 runs on his debut to power the Capitals to a 217-run total. In the chase, though Shai Hope and Kyle Myer had a great start, Joe Clarke’s slow knock and Andre Russell’s golden duck led to a humiliating defeat for Knight Riders.

Dubai Capitals batted first with David Warner making his comeback into the team as an opener. Shai Hope joined him as the duo racked up 82 runs for the opening stand. After Hope was dismissed on 36 off 24 balls by Roston Chase, Gulbadin Naib slammed a quickfire 47 off 25 balls.

Warner unleashed his inner beast to pile up an unbeaten 93 off 57 balls, missing his hundred by 7 runs. Dasun Shanaka added the much-needed finishing touch of 34 off 12 balls in the death to steer Dubai Capitals to a mammoth total of 217 runs at the end of the first inning. 

Meanwhile, for Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Jason Holder proved expensive as he leaked 61 runs in his four-over spell.

In response to the daunting total, Kyle Myer and Andries Gous set up a 96-run opening partnership for the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. Myer scored a sublime 42 off 29 balls before Gulbadin Naib cleaned him up. Gous contributed to the carnage with 78 off 47 balls, including 7 boundaries and 4 sixes. However, Joe Clarke’s slow knock of 29 off 22 balls soared the required run rate. Clarke exploited the loophole by getting retired hurt, paving the way for Andre Russell.

However, moved backfield as Andre Russell was dismissed by Chameera on the first ball, leading to a golden duck dismissal. That marked the end of Abu Dhabi Knight Riders’ hopes. Sunil Narine hit an inspiring 22 off 8 balls, including 2 sixes before Jason Holder contributed with 16 off 9 balls. However, their heroics arrived too late as the Knight Riders fell short of 26 runs to suffer a humiliating defeat.
