Sanju Samson was dismissed cheaply against England in the fifth T20I held at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Mark Wood’s short ball did the trick as Samson holed out to the fielder at deep square leg and fans slammed him heavily on social media.
Samson has been having a horrible series against England. In 5 games, he has managed to score a mere 51 runs with an abysmal average of 10.20. To add to the frustration, the wicket-keeper batter has been dismissed in a similar fashion. The English pacers have exploited his weakness against short balls.
Moreover, in the fifth T20I, Sanju recorded another failure against the short ball, leading to frustration among fans.

Sanju Samson came out to open in the 5th T20I against England and showed great promise with 16 runs in the first over. However, Mark Wood put a stoppage to his sublime hitting with a short ball.
Samson got cramped up and miscued a pull shot. Jofra Archer, stationed at deep square leg, leapt an easy catch to send the opener back in the hut.
Samson walked back to the dressing room after 16 off 7 balls and fans lashed out at him on social media. Many called him a fraud and slammed him for his technical shortcomings.
Sanju Samson has had the most fantastic season of his career in 2024 when he smashed 3 hundreds in T20I format. He settled himself as an opener after having ten years of misery. Still, these latest setbacks have thrust him into limelight once again and fans have raised questions on his credibility.
