The 44th match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 will see Pakistan going head-to-head against England on Saturday, November 11 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.  

It's game over for England and Pakistan in the World Cup 2023. England clinched just two wins out of eight, and Pakistan needs a colossal victory against England to have a shot at the top four. But with New Zealand's dominating win over Sri Lanka and a better net run rate, Pakistan's chances are slim to none.

Whenever England reflects on their World Cup performance in 2023, they will likely hang their heads in shame. The reigning champions could only secure victories in two matches, both against teams like Bangladesh and, more recently, Netherlands. The tournament witnessed a lacklustre performance from both their batting and bowling units, which stands as a primary factor behind their downfall. 

They enter this game with a convincing 160-run victory against the Netherlands, highlighted by Ben Stokes' brilliant century, complemented by half-century knocks from Chris Woakes and David Malan. This shining moment stands as the sole silver lining in their otherwise lackluster World Cup campaign. Heading into this match with nothing to lose and nothing to gain, they aim to play for their pride. 

On the other hand, Pakistan, clinching four wins out of eight matches, is all but out of the semifinal's competition. The recent New Zealand victory over Sri Lanka adds more pressure, as it boosts the chances of the Black Caps for a top-four finish.  

Despite being touted as a world-class bowling unit, their bowlers have fallen short in almost every match of the tournament. The batting lineup struggled to pack a punch until Fakhar Zaman was introduced as an opener. Heading into this match, although Pakistan's chances seem slim, they are determined to give their best against England.
