Australia and Bangladesh will face off in game 43 of the 2023 World Cup in Pune at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. The event is scheduled to begin at 10:30 AM IST and is nothing more than a dead rubber. This is also the first game of the final doubleheader of the Championship tournament.

After starting the campaign with two losses, Australia have played some excellent cricket. They are now on a six-match winning streak and have performed admirably. They have qualified for the semi-finals and will face South Africa at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

The Australians may make a few changes to their lineup and put their bench strength to the test before the knockout game. Glenn Maxwell may miss this game as a result of cramps all over his body during his immortal 201* knock against Afghanistan. Steve Smith, who had vertigo and missed their last game, may also miss the next one. They may make some more adjustments, such as adding Sean Abbott and Cameron Green in the XI.

After ending their six-match losing streak in the World Cup, Bangladesh exhaled a sigh of relief. They won their first game against the Afghans and after a space of half a dozen losses, they emerged victorious against Sri Lanka.

The Tigers will be vying to finish in the top seven in the points table. A win is essential for the Asian team to improve their prospects of competing in the 2025 Champions Trophy.

So, let's see how their predicted XI sounds.

Openers: Tanzid Hasan and Anamul Haque

The Bangladesh opening pair should consist of Tanzid Hasan and Anamul Haque. Litton Das and Tanzid has been their set top order pair in the absence of Tamim Iqbal who was pruned from the World Cup squad. Tanzid scored an impactful fifty against India but failed to glitter in the rest of the matches. His senior partner, Litton has rushed back to Dhaka alongwith Shakib and due to family emergency. Bijoy has been named the replacement of Shakib and therefore should open the batting.

Middle Order: Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mushfiqur Rahim, Towhid Hridoy

Bangladesh middle order consists of a blend of youth and experience. Najmul Hossaij Shanto and Towhid Hridoy are the future of the Tigers while Mushfiqur Rahim has been a constant for the national team since 15 years now. He took a mind-boggling catch earlier against Sri Lanka and has runs under the belt as well.

Hridoy has been on and off the team but is a talent-head. Shanto did lose his form in the first half of the competition but scored a well tailored fifty in their last game.

All-rounders: Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Mahmudullah Riyad

In the absence of Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mahmudullah Riyad should be the two all-rounders of Bangladesh. The former has been below par with his performances with both bat and ball. However, Mahmudullah has had one heck of an outing for the Tigers. He racked up a ton against South Africa and played other pivotal knocks as well. Although he is not expected to bowl full quota of 10 overs, Mahmudullah can be a great sixth bowling option.

Bowlers: Nasum Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam

To fill the void of a left-arm finger spinner, Bangladesh think tank may rope in Nasum Ahmed. He is a great powerplay bowler and tries to bowl tight lines. Nasum has also improved with his batting.

Bangladesh could look for the same pace attack with Taskin Ahmed leading the troop along with Shoriful Islam and Tanzim Hasan Sakib. The former adds the left-armer's angle and has the knack for wickets with the new ball. The former has the slingy action and can be lethal in the slog overs with disguised slower ones.
