After a good and convincing win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their home ground, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will fly to Eden Gardens for their seventh match. The opposition will be Kolkata Knight Riders and the Super Kings will be eager to win this match and strengthen their position in the top half of the table.

The match will be played on Sunday, 23rd April at 7:30 PM IST. Before the match goes let us look at the eleven that CSK might go in with for this match.

Openers

Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad

The right-hand - left-hand duo has worked wonders for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023. Both the openers are in great form and consistently giving the team some great starts. The team management will surely stick with the combination and hope for another good start from the duo.

Top Order

Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, Ambati Rayudu*

Ajinkya Rahane has rediscovered himself in this edition of the Indian Premier League. He has been playing the role of the middle-order enforcer and has been doing it consistently.

Shivam Dube has been a curious case for the Super Kings. He can score runs at a great rate but has done so in only one match. But MS Dhoni favours having him in the side, and Dube will probably be there in the playing XI against KKR.

If CSK is batting first, Ambati Rayudu will surely be there in the playing XI as an anchor who can modify his playing style per the game situation. He will be substituted when CSK fields, as has been the norm for the team.

Lower Order

Moeen Ali, MS Dhoni (c and wk), Ravindra Jadeja

Moeen Ali is a real asset to the CSK team in the truest sense of the term. He can bat in the top order if quick runs are required and come down if the team needs a powerful finish. Also, with the ball, Moeen Ali can bowl a couple of important overs for the team, and he will surely be a part of the team in this match.

MS Dhoni is the first name in the sheet while CSK's playing XI is decided. In this edition of the tournament, MSD is looking at the number of balls the team has in hand and coming out to bat accordingly to provide powerful finishes. In the case of captaincy and leading the team in the field, there is very little you can opine about the legend.

Ravindra Jadeja looked off colours. But as the games go by, he is regaining his usual self. He has performed brilliantly with the ball in the last two matches, but Jadeja needs to find his form with the bat very soon.

Bowlers

Akash Singh*, Maheesh Theekshana, Matheesha Pathirana, Tushar Deshpande

Akash Singh will be there in the playing XI if CSK bowls first. But if CSK is chasing in the match, Akash Singh will be brought in as the impact substitute. He has done a decent job in the tournament with the new ball in hand and will be backed for the entirety of the tournament by the team management.

Maheesh Theekshana has taken his time to adjust to the Indian playing conditions and is gradually becoming his true self. He is an essential bowler for CSK, who can deliver at the opening stages and in the middle-overs. Theekshana will be there for the match against KKR.

Matheesha Pathirana has evolved as the death-over trump card for the team in IPL 2022. He is picking up wickets towards the end of an inning and bowling some economical overs in the death.

Tushar Deshpande has moved from being the criticised impact substitute in the first match to a regular first-XI player. Deshpande is doing his job with the ball in hand and will be a part of the playing against the Knight Riders.
