Iqbal Stadium To Experience Thrills Again
As the Pakistani side is going through some major setbacks throughout the past few years, they are all set to experience a historic moment. After 2008, the iconic Iqbal Stadium of Faisalabad is set to host T20I matches of the upcoming limited-overs series between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
17 years back, on April 11, 2008, these two sides locked horns in an ODI match at the iconic venue, and that has been recorded as the last international match at this venue so far. In this match, the Pakistani side emerged victorious as they defeated the visitors by 7 wickets. Now, history is set to repeat itself as the two sides prepare for another showdown on the same ground.
As per the reports, the first two T20I clashes of the upcoming five-match T20I series is set to take place at Faisalabad. Then the action will shift to Lahore for the remaining three clashes.
A Rehearsal Stage Before The Upcoming Major Events
Reports suggest that the Bangladesh side is all set to tour Pakistan in the third week of May and set to play a five-match T20I series. Starting from May 25, the final match of the series is expected to take place on June 3.
With the Asia Cup set for later this year in shortest format and the T20 World Cup approaching in 2026, this series serves as the perfect rehearsal stage for both teams. Originally, the T20I series was planned along with an ODI series, the cricket boards revised the format to sharpen their preparations for the mega events ahead.
