On a midweek double header day, cricket fans of India enjoyed a batting show as the Kolkata Knight Riders faced Lucknow Super Giants on the first match of the exciting day. Eden Gardens turned into a run fiesta as players from both teams delivered an edge-of-the-seat display. After the defeat, KKR's unexpected batting order shift tipped the scales, sparking a wave of criticism from the fans.
KKR's Daring Batting Order Switch Stokes Fan Fury
After a massive win over the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders were high on confidence before facing the Lucknow Super Giants on home condition. But as cricket never fails to surprise fans, KKR’s batting order did it for them. While chasing the huge target of 239 runs, KKR’s batting order shift sunk their own ship.
While opening the innings, de Kock walked away scoring 15 runs and Narine departed scoring 30 runs only in 13 balls. After that, Ajinkya Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer’s steady partnership boosted their innings. But after that, their horrible batting order change changed the tide.
Ramandeep Singh was sent early as Rinku Singh and Russell had to wait a while for their turn. Coming to bat at number 5, Ramandeep departed with a disappointment, scoring only 1 runs. Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Andre Russell couldn’t do much.
When Rinku came as number 8 batter, the damage was already done as the LSG bowlers were gripping over the game. But still Rinku managed to play an unbeaten fiery knock of 38 runs in just 15 deliveries with a strike rate of 253.33. But as it was too late, LSG secured the win by 4 runs. Those questionable moved sparked discussion online as fans turned furious by facing defeat in their almost-won game.
Here is how fans reacted to KKR's batting order
Can’t understand why KKR sent Rinku Singh so late in a tough chase? Why is he coming in after Raghuvanshi - @MidnightMusinng
It was in the bag. What a fumble from KKR. Also who sent Ramandeep & Raghuvanshi before Russ and Rinku. That guy should be punished for this loss. And why Eden pitch is still same. Wasn't it supposed to be spin friendly after 1st match. - @Fatui4ever
Sending Raghuvanshi ahead of Russell and Rinku is the Biggest Blunder made by KKR Management & Captain Rahane. Till that KKR is very comfortable in chase. - @Lakhan_Sharma_7
Worst planning by KKR management for player lineup... - @Late_lateef_off
Nothing frustrates me more than KKR complicates things with there batting line up and lose from winning position. - @RNandanJoshi
Why not promoting Rinku ahead, Give more time to Rinku. - @Aditya93129043
After losing the victory from such a close margin cost the Kolkata Knight Riders on the points table. With 2 wins and 3 defeats in 5 matches, they currently sit at 6th position with just 4 points. As they are set to face the Chennai Super Kings on April 11, they will be eyeing a stronger bounce back.
