Security increased at Eden Gardens for IND vs SA 1st Test following deadly Delhi explosion

In a significant development, after a high-intensity blast in Delhi, the Kolkata Police have increased security in and around the Eden Gardens ahead of the first Test between India and South Africa, which begins on November 14.

According to a report by India Today, both teams India and South Africa have already arrived in Kolkata and will remain under tight security. 

The blast in New Delhi has raised security concerns nationwide. Authorities confirmed that eight people lost their lives in the explosion, while 24 others were injured. Of the deceased, two men have been identified, while six bodies remain unidentified. It is worth noting that investigations are underway to known the exact cause of the explosion.

Kolkata Police tighten security after Delhi blast

It is important to mention that the security plan for first Test between India and South Africa includes constant protection during team movements, from hotels to the stadium and back, especially on match days. Kolkata Police have also launched special 'NAKA' checks and surveillance around the stadium.

Security personnel have been deployed at all major entry and exit points. Additional forces have also been stationed near team hotels and travel routes. The Kolkata Police Commissioner, Manoj Verma, is expected to visit Eden Gardens on Tuesday to review the arrangements personally. 

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) is also coordinating closely with the police to ensure all measures are in place before the match.

Both teams are scheduled to begin training on November 11 under strict security. The series holds high importance for the Indian team, led by Shubman Gill. The first match of the series will be played at Eden Gardens from November 14-18, and the second Test will be played at Barsapara Stadium from November 22-26. 

After the Test series, India and South Africa will also face each other in a three-match ODI series, followed by a five-match T20I series.
