Rishabh Pant went big against South Africa A in the decisive innings of India A’s four-day unofficial Test in Bengaluru. Announcing himself back into the big stage after getting sidelined owing to a nasty foot injury in England, the blistering wicketkeeper-batter blasted 64* from 81 balls by the end of Day 3 after India A crashed to 32-3 in a chase of 275.
Moreover, Rishabh Pant even continued his mayhem the following day to some extent. However, against the run of play, the senior pro was dismissed by South Africa fast bowler Tiaan van Vuuren just 10 runs shy from a well-deserved fourth innings century.
Match split open as Rishabh Pant goes for 90
Rishabh Pant launched 11 fours and four huge sixes at the BCCI CoE in Bengaluru across Days 3 and 4 of India A’s four-day unofficial Test against South Africa A. The cricketer scored 90 runs in all from just 113 deliveries to signal his return to form after getting sidelined from a nasty foot injury.
Elevating India A from a precarious 32-3, Rishabh Pant eventually left his team’s resistance at 172-5, at a time when the hosts were still over 100 runs away from their target. The attacking left-hander was holed out by South Africa’s Lesego Senokwane as fast bowler Tiaan van Vuuren fought back for the visitors.
Rishabh Pant injury and return to cricket
Rishabh Pant suffered a nasty foot injury a couple of months ago in England. The injury ruled him out of India’s subsequent home Test series against West Indies and from the entirety of India’s white-ball tour of Australia.
Spending his time in rehabilitation, Rishabh Pant was appointed as captain of India A against South Africa A upon his recovery. The series against South Africa A serves as his dress rehearsal before the all-format series against the senior Proteas team.
