The hype around Virat Kohli’s return to Ranji Trophy doused down after he was dismissed by Himanshu Sangwan on just 6 runs. After the bowler let out an aggressive send-off, Kohli fans unleashed their wrath on social media, though they got Sangwan’s ID wrong.

Kohli entered the Arun Jaitley Stadium on January 30 for his first Ranji Trophy game after 12 years. He received humongous support as the crowd turned out in record numbers to celebrate the moment.

Since Railways batted first, Kohli enjoyed most of the time on the field. On Day 2, he entered the arena after Yash Dhull’s dismissal.

However, the euphoria died down soon as Virat Kohli got bowled to a peach delivery from Railways pacer Himanshu Sangwan. He walked off with just 6 runs in 12 balls. Moreover, Sangwan let out a huge roar to celebrate the wicket in an animated manner.

That being said, Kohli fans strongly disapproved of his gesture and called him out on social media. However, in a case of mistaken identity, many users who shared the same name, 'Himanshu Sangwan,' faced the backlash, despite having no connection to the incident.  

Many people named ‘Himanshu Sangwan’ faced abuse on social media and one user also shared a story to clarify that he is not the Railways pacer.

Meanwhile, after Virat Kohli’s dismissal, Delhi captain Ayush Badoni delivered a crucial knock of 99 off 77 balls to rebuild the inning. The team managed to hit the 200-run mark in response to the 241 total set by Railways in the first inning.

Virat Kohli's safety became a priority after an incident at the Delhi vs Railways Ranji Trophy match when a fan breached security and ran onto the field to touch the cricketing legend's feet The fan, who entered the field during the 12th over of Railways' innings, was quickly escorted off by security, but not before Kohli emotionally urged for leniency towards the fan. The breach hindered security, leading to the deployment of Para-Military forces at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
