In what was a one sided affair in Vadodara, Mumbai Indians beat Gujarat Giants by 5 wickets in Match 5 of the ongoing Women's Premier League (WPL) at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.
It was an all-round performance from Harmanpreet Kaur and co as they registered their first win. After a loss in the first match, they bounced back in style.

Nat Sciver-Brunt leads Mumbai’s powerplay brilliance with the ball
After being asked to bat first Gujarat Giants got off to a horrible start as they managed to score only 28 runs and lost four wickets inside the first six overs. Nat Sciver-Brunt was the major contributor with two big wickets of Beth Mooney and captain Ashleigh Gardner.
Deandra Dottin and Harleen Deol joined hands in the middle to reconstruct the innings but failed miserably as Amelia Kerr sent back Dottin early and the Giants lost half of their side with just 58 on the board at the halfway mark.

With half of the innings to go, Harleen Deol kept a strong hold at one end but kept losing partners at the other end. Eventually, Harleen (32 off 31) also got out as Amanjot Kaur also joined the party, scalping the big wicket just when the Giants needed her to up the scoring rate.
Mumbai Indians bowled Gujarat Giants out for 120 on the board. Hayley Matthews was the pick of the bowlers for MI with three wickets in her 4 overs. Moreover, Natt Sciver-Brunt and Amelia Kerr took two wickets each in their respective spells.

Chasing a below-par total of 121 runs, Mumbai Indians got off to a decent start as they finished the powerplay with 37 for the loss of one wicket. Hayley Matthews did manage to score three boundaries before hitting one straight to the hands at backward square.
Post powerplay, Gujarat Giants did manage to struck two quick wickets, including one of captain Harmanpreet Kaur but Nat Sciver-Brunt ensured the runs kept coming and Mumbai didn't fall off the guard in the chase.

The English all-rounder continued the onslaught after the halfway mark and went on to score yet another half-century to put her side in a strong position.
Eventually, Mumbai Indians chased the target quiet comfortably at the end and won by five wickets with more than three overs to spare. With the ball, Priya Mishra and Kashvee Gautam were the pick of the bowlers, taking two wickets each in the innings.
